I decided to study what is so mysterious about candles for this holiday. Is there some special meaning, or do they create an entourage? Spoiler: of course, they have a meaning, and the tradition goes back a long way. Let's figure it out.

The tradition of lighting candles during Halloween traces back to Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival held on October 31. Samhain marked the transition from the harvest season to winter, a period when it was believed the boundary between the living and spirit worlds was at its most fragile.
